              Required Documentation

 

All Students:

• Original Electronic Egyptian Birth Certificate (Egyptian Only).
• Photocopy of passport including residency (Foreigner Only).
• 1 x Passport sized photo of child.
• Photocopy of both parents/guardians ID (Egyptian)/Passport (Foreign).
• Photocopy of both parents/guardians University Degree/Diploma.
• Copy of Vaccination History.

 

Transferring Students:

• Copy of academic records from last 2 years.
• Most Recent end of term report.
• Behavioral letter from previous school.
• A certificate testifying to the promotion of your child from one year to another, issued by the Ministry of Education , Educational Department (New Cairo District).
• School Transfer Paper stamped from your child’s previous school and the Ministry of Education, Educational Department (New Cairo District).
• Electronic Transfer from your child’s previous school.
• Obtaining an admission letter from the Ministry of Education (Department of Private Education) for Foreign Students.

Transferring from abroad:

• In case your child is transferring from a school outside of Egypt.
• Attendance Statement from the previous school.
• Previous years’ school reports.
• Both must be stamped by the Ministry of Education in the country you are transferring from and then from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Obtaining an admission letter from the Ministry of Education (Department of Private Education) for Egyptians and Foreign Students.

 

 

 

 

              Student Assessment

 

The assessment differs greatly depending on the year group that the application is being made for:

 

FS1 / FS2 

Prospective FS1 / FS2 students will be asked to come into school to spend a period of time in the classroom environment with the class teacher. This assessment lasts between 20 min to 30 min.

The main focus for the assessors will be how the applicants behave socially in the classroom environment, and how they are developing physically. There will be a short one-on one assessment for each student in which they will have the opportunity to display their physical development, creative development and knowledge of the world. Although some level of English for children starting FS1 is a clear advantage, it is not a matter of priority for assessors at this stage. There will also be a short one-on-one assessment for the applicant in which they will be expected to illustrate that they are ready to access the FS2 curriculum in the BICC School by showing their development in English communication and language, Mathematics, expressive arts, and design and physical development.

 

Key Stage One (Year 1 and Year 2)

Prospective Year 1 and Year 2 students will be asked to come into school for an individual one-on-one assessment with a Key Stage One practitioner or member of the Senior Management Team. The applicant will be expected to illustrate that they are ready to access the year appropriate curriculum by showing their development in English speaking, listening and understanding skills.

Completing English tasks related to reading, writing and Phonics.

Completing a series of mathematical tasks, modelling their creative development and proving that they are adequately developed physically.

 

Key Stage Two (Year 3 – Year 6)

Prospective Year 3 to Year 6 students will be asked to come into school for an individual one-on-one assessment with a Key Stage Two practitioner or a member of the Senior Management Team. The applicant will also be asked to sit a Cognitive Ability Test, an English assessment and a Mathematics assessment.

 

Secondary (Year 7 – Year 9)

Prospective Year 7 to Year 9 students will be asked to come into school for an individual one-on-one assessment with a member of the Senior Management Team. The applicant will also be asked to sit a Cognitive Ability Test, an English assessment and a Mathematics assessment.

 

 

 

 

 

                 Disclosing of results to parents:

 

• Following the completion of the student assessment a decision will then be made on whether the applicant will be accepted or rejected.
• All decisions are made via discussion between the assessor, members of the Senior Management Team and the Director of the school.
• Once a decision has been made the Admissions Office will be informed.
• They will then call the parents to inform them if their child has been successful.
• If an applicant has not been successful, Admissions will provide feedback to the parents on the reasons for this decision.
• The British International College of Cairo School has a policy of not disclosing actual student assessment results, other than to inform parents of whether their child has been accepted or rejected, and to offer support on areas that need to be improved if they are rejected.
• Please note that the BICC reserves the right to decide on which applicants are successful and which are not.
• All decisions on whether an applicant is accepted or rejected are final. It is not possible to appeal a decision or to complain about the outcome of an assessment.
• Reassessment of students is possible within the same academic year, but any rejected students are welcome to reapply for the following academic year.

Admissions will follow up on all applications and provide guidance to parents to ensure that all necessary documentation is complete, and to arrange appointments for parent interviews and student assessments.
